Parsloe Claims Professional Title as Kuzava and Team Win Year's Second Corona Premier Pro-Am Event
Erie, CO. – The Colorado PGA Section (COPGA) held its second Corona Premier® Pro-Am Event today at Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, Colorado. Host PGA Professional Matt Schalk deserves a big thank you for jumping on the Pro-Am schedule in 2023 after hosting the Pro-Assistant Championship in the fall of 2022. Chilly temperatures and a small 15-minute frost delay greeted the players this morning before giving way to sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s for most of the day.
All Colorado PGA Pro-Am’s are split into two shotguns, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The morning shotgun kicked off at 8:45 am, and the afternoon got rolling at 2:30 pm. Leading all PGA Professionals in the morning wave and eventually holding off the afternoon players to take the title was Tyler Parsloe, PGA, from Jake’s Academy. Parsloe fired a round of 4-under-par 68, consisting of 5 birdies and a lone bogey on the Par 3 14th. 2-shots off Parsloes pace also in the morning was Doug Rohrbaugh, PGA, from River Valley Ranch Golf Course. Rohrbaugh continued his strong play to begin the 2023 season, firing a 2-under-par round of 70. Rohrbaugh finished T-2 alongside Zachary Peck, PGA, from TPC Colorado as Peck carded an impressive 5 birdies on the day with bogeys
coming at the 5th, 6th and 13th holes.
The team competition also proved to be a tight race as the afternoon team of Blake Kuzava, PGA, of Bear Creek Golf Club, and amateurs Brad Parker, Connor Burke, and Josh Richey shot a combined total score of 11-under-par for a total of 125 strokes. The runners-up included the teams led by Barry Milstead, PGA, of Valley Country Club, and Kendall Carson, PGA, of Pins and Fins, LLC, both shooting scores of 10-under-par 126’s, one stroke shy of the leaders.
The Corona Premier® Hole of the Week was on the drivable Par 4 17th at Colorado National. The 345-yard hole has a forced carry-over water if you want to reach the green and provided the Colorado PGA Professionals a great risk-reward tee shot.
Monday’s Pro-Am at Colorado National was host to over 170 players and is only the second of 15 Corona Premier® Pro-Am events during the 2023 Colorado PGA tournament season. The Corona Premier® Pro-Am Series has a week off as the section runs its Pro-Pro-Pro Championship, with the Pro-Am’s picking back up on Monday, May 15th, at The Club at Inverness in Englewood, Colorado.
