Fort Carson Military Personnel Enjoy a Day of Golf at the Annual IVY Pro-Am

Fort Carson IVY Pro-Am, Supported by Tito's Handmade Vodka and Ahead USA

A sunny day at Cheyenne Shadows Golf Club in Colorado Springs, Colo., on July 14th, 2022, created a stunning backdrop for the 7th Annual IVY Pro-Am Tournament. In conjunction with the Warrior Transition Battalion and active duty soldiers at Fort Carson, PGA REACH Colorado, the foundation of the Colorado Section of the PGA of America, hosted a funfilled day of golf! Four-person scramble teams were formed with three military personnel and one Colorado PGA Professional. Congratulations to Mark Bacheldor, PGA of UCCS PGA Golf Management, Rob Beyer, Brian Sheridan, and Brandon Medeiros on taking home first place in the tournament!

The fun didn’t just stay out on the course that afternoon, though! We were joined by local junior golfers and families of the players for an afternoon on the driving range, featuring Birdie-Ball balls and inflatable targets, corn-hole, and a bounce house!

Thank you to our sponsor, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, for supplying the on-course refreshments, and Ahead USA, for providing hats to all our players, and for their continued support. Another thank you to our volunteers, John and Sandi Andrew and Judy Malone, who helped make this event possible, and our 25 Colorado PGA Professionals who played in the event, creating a welcoming and educational environment for the military personnel players!

We look forward to hosting this tournament again in 2023 with Cheyenne Shadows!

We are so thankful for the continued support of our Military Veterans and the PGA REACH Colorado Foundation, specifically through the PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) Program. PGA HOPE introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being. The program introduces the game of golf through a developmental 6-8 week curriculum, taught by PGA Professionals trained in adaptive golf and military competency. All programs are funded by PGA REACH and supplemented by the Colorado PGA, so the cost of programming is free to all Veterans! If you’re interested in hosting PGA HOPE Programs at your facilities or are a veteran interested in joining a program, please reach out to Justin Limon, PGA at JLimon@PGAHQ.com or read more on our website at reach.coloradopga.com/supporting-our-military

Centennial, Colo. - It was a beautiful day to crown a champion at Valley Country Club for the 67th Colorado PGA Professional Championship. Geoff Keffer, PGA Assistant Professional at Lakewood Country Club began the day with a two-shot lead over Tristin Goodwin, PGA Assistant Professional at Cherry Hills Country Club. Goodwin started the day red hot as he birdied four of his first six holes and added an eagle on hole 5 as he holed his wedge shot from 40 yards out. After hole 6 Goodwin had flipped a two-shot deficit into a three-shot lead. “My strategy did not change, but my mindset definitely changed a little bit, I started to feel more pressure as I was leading the golf tournament now,” Goodwin said. Bogies on holes 7 and 9, the two par threes on the front nine, and a birdie from Keffer on 7, Goodwin and Keffer made the turn to the back nine dead even at 9-under-par.
