Education

Education

The new MSR requirement cycle began on June 16, 2018 and will run through June 15, 2021.

Educating the Member remains a top priority for the Section. It is the number one way that PGA Members can add value to themselves and to their facilities. It is the focus of the Education Committee to offer programs that the Membership sees as valuable programs in the hopes that our Members will take advantage of them. The Section will do everything possible to secure quality educational programs for as little cost to the Members as possible.

PGA Member Service Requirement Policy:

Credit requirements will consist of two categories: 54 Total Credits, 36 of which must be from PGA Meeting/PGA Education (Any meeting or education program conducted or co-conducted by the National, Section or Chapter. Example of a co-conducted program is the PGA/USGA Rules of Golf Workshops). The other 18 MSR’s can be earned for service or volunteer duties, etc.

Participating in a U.S. Kids Golf Certified Coach Seminar enhances the instructor’s knowledge of all aspects of youth golf coaching while providing tools to enable professionals to grow their programs.  Those completing Certification are eligible for many benefits including a Profile Page on U.S. Kids website which attracted over 70,000 searches for coaches last year.  Areas of focus during the seminar include:

Enhancing Current Junior Programs:  Learn how to build your junior golf business using tools, resources, best practices and bringing “fun” to junior programs through a games-based curriculum.

Player Pathway—Details for creating and implementing an incentive-based program to engage and enhance the student’s experience are provided.  Learn how one program grew from $0-$100,000+ in four years.

Equipment: Information on how to properly fit young golfers and the key components in club design that will assist in maximizing success for both young golfers and their instructors will be presented.

Developing Swing Speed and Power:  Proprietary research and information on swing speed development and tools to help kids learn a golf swing at a young age that can last a lifetime will be shared.

Course Yardage: Research regarding appropriate length of course set up for players, based on driver distance and its relationship to other clubs, will be provided so that instructors become experts in golf course setup and yardages.

The cost of the Certified Coach Seminar is $195.  This fee includes the day-long training at The Ranch CC, featuring both indoor and hands-on outdoor sessions, all seminar materials, luncheon, the U.S. Kids Golf Book of Games and optional online training and testing.  Discounts are provided for multiple registrations from the same facility by emailing Coach@uskidsgolf.com.  Those completing certification will receive an array of additional benefits from U.S. Kids Golf.
